Washington’s wrongful death statute provides for a cause of action in the event of a wrongful death of a family member when the death of a person is caused by a wrongful act, neglect, or fault of another. 

Such an action must be maintained by the deceased’s personal representative.  The lawsuit may be filed on behalf of all statutory beneficiaries with a right to recover compensation under the statute.
